How to make your personalized simple shower scrub

Hi! There are a LOT of shower sugar or salt scrubs out there.  A scrub for the body is to help exfoliate your skin cells. As we age, our skin regenerates at a slower pace.  After the age of forty, or even sooner, a scrub is a great way to retain that youthful glow.

There are some beautiful scrubs out there that smell great and do that job nicely. There are also a lot of scrubs (and recipes) that clearly have not been tested well. There is a recipe out there for a scrub that contains coconut oil, for example.  Well, it will give your tub a lovely ice skating effect.  Same with olive oil, and pretty much every other oil. Some others have made my shower floor feeling tacky afterwards. Yuck.

Well, here’s a secret:  make your own without the oil. It’s NOT needed!  Get lovely skin when you want it, anytime, by making it yourself for pennies. I do this often.

SALT/SUGAR SCRUB

  • 2 TBL any type of salt or sugar (smallest crystals please unless you want to tear your skin up) 🙂
  • 4 drops essential oil  (orange or lavender is wonderful and inexpensive)

Mix gently in a non-breakable bowl. You will be in the shower for this and I don’t want you to accidentally drop lovely glass or porcelain! I probably would! Understand that if you use plastic, the VERY tiny molecules of the essential oils will seep in time into the plastic, so use the same bowl for the scrub, and not for food.

Get completely soaked in a warm shower then gently scrub away; your skin is more delicate than think!  Rinse, then wash as usual.

I guarantee you will feel no less smooth and wonderful than if you had a store bought scrub. If your skin is on the dry side, use your favorite lotion or oil spray as you usually do. You will notice how smooth it glides on.

>>>Popular essential oils to use: Lavender for relaxation, Orange for happiness (all proven scientifically),  Sandalwood is grounding, yet at the same time can bring on a feeling of meditation. If I have a cold, I will use a mix of lavender and eucalyptus.

A gift of an expensive and well-made scented shower scrub is a treat, to be sure–but you CAN have the same results DIY.

Make your own scented salt/sugar in a pretty jar for gifts. Finely ground Himalayan pink salt looks beautiful and thoughtful. ❤
